Be Your Own Boss

 

The Leonardo da Vinci project called Be Your Own Boss is a European Union funded project for people wishing to start their own business.

 

The project aims to develop a European-wide training framework for persons who wish to start up their own business. The focus in the project is specific on training courses developed for disadvantaged groups (disabled, women, young people, ethnic minorities, and people in rural areas).

 

The UK project partnership is made up of Stoke-on-Trent City Council with Business Initiative as the Agency undertaking the training.  We are 7 European partners on board in the following countries: 

Czech Republic •Lithuania •Bulgaria •Poland •Greece United Kingdom South Denmark

Final Conference - Sept 08

The event was organised by the Office of West Midlands in Europe at their offices in Brussels and attracted over 50 people who listened to presentations on the Be Your Own Boss training framework. The aim of the project is to help would-be entrepreneurs from disadvantaged groups including women, people with disabilities, enthnic minorities, young people and those from rural areas to access consistent training materials wherever they live.

The event attracted two high profile figures from the European Commission: Ute Halle-Block, Deputy Head of Unit for Professional Training and Leonardo da Vinci, Directorate General of the European Commission and Christian Weinberger, a policy advisor on Entrepreneurship and SME Policy, European Commission, Direcorate General for Enterprise and Industry
